With not many 'easy' H1b cases anymore. This looks like another route for the 'attorney' to get more clients, selling fear!
I agree !! it is definitely bad news and many may end up spending more on a plastic card. more business for lawyers !!!
maybe guiness book of world records should have an entry for the costliest plastic card I just hope and pray that future generations have better options at home and in different countries and links such as these point out the hard truth that everyone needs to have a plan B - and be mobile and ready to move. (i.e. not get stuck with immovable assets).

Is there a way I can apply for a green card during residency for a future job two years down the road?
Same question came up for my wife in 2004 when she did not yet have a licence to practice dentistry and she wanted to apply as a dentist and our attorney told as that during LC when advertisments are placed at that time you should have the degree and the licence ready so as to apply for that particular job.My wife got her licence in 2005.Hope this answers your question.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) isnt wasting any time with his immigration agenda, dropping a bill on the first day of Congress that goes after birthright citizenship.
Kings measure would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act, ending automatic citizenship for anyone born in the country. Instead, the measure requires that only the children of citizens, legal immigrants permanently living in the country or immigrants in the military, be granted citizenship.
Republicans grabbed headlines last summer after Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) criticized the longstanding law, saying it encourages pregnant women to come to the country to have children so they can eventually become citizens themselves.
Though others have called for changing the 14th Amendment, King said that ending birthright citizenship through statute makes sense because its easier to do.
We need to address anchor babies, he told POLITICO Wednesday. This isnt what our founding fathers intended.
Immigration legislation isnt high on the list of priorities for House GOP leaders.
At least five other members Reps. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), Gary Miller (R-Calif.), Rob Woodall (R-Ga.), Brian Bilbray (R-Calif.) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) are co-sponsoring Kings measure.

Hi,
Need quick suggestion:
Company A filed for GC. Labor and I-140 was approved. I-485 was filed during July 2007.
I changed employer in June 2009; replied to RFE and filed AC21 in July 2009.
I came to know that my GC sponsring company is going to close the company soon. My current immigration attorney is suggesting that if that happens; and if INS came to know that GC sponsring company is closing down, they will revoke my I-140.
Is it true? I thought after AC21 is invoked; whatever happens to GC sponsring company, it will not impact my GC application in any way.
Please advice.

It is better and more meaningful to do yearly predictions rather than monthly predictions. This way, we will waste less time and atleast see the dates moving by a few days.

People are destroying this country by converting the illegals into legals. All these illegals and whoever is supporting them should be deported. If you want to live in US, follow the rules, if you want to break rules, live somewhere else.

I got RFE on my whole family’s pending I-485 applications
The REF description is “ There is a missing signature in page 4 of your application. The signature of the person who prepared your form I-485 is missing. Please have it signed by the preparer, Mr. ABC”.
I used software owned by company(Ex) to prepare these forms. And Mr. ABC is heads for immigration department in that company. I entered all the necessary info in that application and took print out for 485 form. Mr ABC details and company address printed in the 4th page of I-485 application(Part 5.Signature of person preparing form, if other than above.(sign below)) area.
Mr ABC did not put the signature there because he did not prepare the application and sent application to USCIS. My signature is there in applicant area(no problem).
We got RFE for missing preparer signature.
Now,
I contacted ex-company to get the signature on my I-485 application but he no longer working with them. Company immigration people are telling me that the signature in not required in that form.
I contacted Mr ABC for signature but I am not sure his signature is valid now on my I485 application.(because he is no longer working with them)
Finally I think the "prepared by signature" is not at all required because I entered all my information for my I-485.
I just lost ........ Any help on this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch for your response. I'm not planning on getting my GC. - will be leaving this country when my H1 term ends. my passport is expiring and i would really like a renewed passport with a valid correct name - just dont want to keep making mistakes over and over again. How difficult is it getting an I-797 after changing the name on the passport. should i file the "action on a petition (I-824?)" or amendment to H1?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I have done this successfully twice (extended) , but you do have to fill out that column. Its a big risk to give incorrect info, since they will find out with A#.

All,
I want to get my Wifes name (FNU case) corrected in the L2 petition. What is the process for that? I have read that a Visa amendment needs to be filed but didnt find any such amendment form on USCIS site.
She only had her first name in the passport hence both the petition and I-94 had her name as FNU HERFIRSTNAME. I am planning to get her name corrected in passport first by applying for a new passport at consulate. Afer that, need to get her name corrected in the L2 visa petition. I-94 should get corrected when we re-enter US next year as current one is already expired.
Has anyone got the visa petition corrected? Please let me know the process. Appreciate help from everyone.
Thanks,
Prashant
